Geez, Louise!!!

I am SO very excited!  This year, I was given new technology equipment.  I have a new projector, and a new document camera.  I also have a new computer cart that my dad gave me….

Meet Louise, everyone!!

Meet Louise, everyone!!

I put everything all together, and decided to give the cart a name — rather than calling it the Cart, I’ve decided to name her Louise…

Louise???  “Why did you name the cart Louise, Mrs Brooks?” you might be asking….  Well, THAT is a very good question.  I’m SO glad you asked….

My grandmother, Louise Nash Huff, died this past January 21st, on my 41st birthday.  She was almost 94 years old, and I was head-over-heels in love with her.  When you arrive in the classroom, you will see the walls are covered in her quilts, which I will share with you.  Both my grandmother, and my grandfather were teachers.  They were cherished by their students for all the years they taught, and were important members of their school and community.

My grandmother was an amazing woman, and anyone who was lucky enough to know her, learned a whole bunch.  Grammie taught me some wonderful lessons, some tough lessons, and some lessons I’m sure I’ll learn more about later in life.

I decided that some of these lessons were more than appropriate for our classroom, and our computer cart!  So, I thought I’d take a minute to introduce “Louise” to you…   Before you know it, she will be just another name in our classroom.  I hope you will come to love her as I do :).

    Hi Isabelle,

Thank you – I am excited to name the cart – it will make things fun. My grammie did teach me a whole bunch.

I am amazed that school starts tomorrow already, and I already miss you as a student, too.

    See you in the Hall!

    Love,
    Mrs. Brooks
