One of the best things about the Grade 3 curriculum are the opportunities for students to get out and enjoy all that our region has to offer in the way of experiential learning. As you know, we have already visited Plimoth Plantation, the Cotuit Arts Center, and have had many visitors in the classroom.
Now that the nice weather is here, you’ll find that we will resume our trips out-and-about, and will have more visitors arriving in Room 309.
Some of our trips require drivers, and some are within walking distance. Some are full-day excursions, while others might only take 40 minutes. Keep a close eye on the schedule to see what’s coming up and what your child may need to bring to school. Also keep your eyes peeled for date changes and cancellations, as some plans don’t always work out the way I’d like them to.
In the coming weeks, we might visit the Cape Cod Canal visitor’s center, Coonamessett Farm, Aptucxet Trading Post, and the Museums on the Green.
Hopefully we’ll walk to the Old Hatch Cemetery, The Katherine Lee Bates house & statue, and create a narrated photographic walking tour of Historical Downtown Falmouth if we have time!
People visiting our classroom will include experts on worm farms, electricity and colonial instruments. Can you see why this is my favorite time of year??
🙂 Early Release Day tomorrow – don’t forget any change of dismissal notes.
🙂 Walk to School Day is this Wednesday morning. Meet at Surf Drive Beach according to the notice sent home.
🙂 Math MCAS is on the horizon – be ready to see those same wonderful Before & After BAGS coming home again soon!!
Breathe Deeply,
Mrs. Brooks
I am in for any/all of those things if they work out 🙂 Funny you mentioned Aptuxet, Matthew was just telling Kyle about that trip and the Canal and then I was going to ask you when we were going tomorrow morning…:)
