Today was fun!!!! Each student was given 4 Oreo cookies with the instructions to use their science notes and create a model of the Moon’s phases.
Though at first, they all looked to me for “how” to do it — I told them to figure it out. As you can see, they certainly did!!!
What great thinkers they all are!! Bravo!!!!
I have to admit that the old jingle ran through my head all afternoon — “Ice cold milk and an Oreo Cookie; they forever go together; what a classic combination….” EVERYBODY sing!!!!
The very next morning, I prepared for a poetry lesson. When I opened my planner? Guess what poem was staring back up at me???
Enjoy!!
How To Eat a Sandwich Cookie
by Beverly McLoughland
A rookie
Cookie eater
Eats a sandwich cookie
fast —
1 bite, 2 bite —
End of cookie.
A pro
Makes a sandwich cookie
Last —
Knows the art
Of getting to the cookie’s
Heart —
Slides the halves
Apart —
Ver-y
Ver-y
Slowly
Bottom
Against top
Stops.
Turns the top side
Over…
YES!
One round and creamy
Sugar moon.
Of course
A pro always eats
The blank side
First–
And then,
with a silly grin,
And a thank you
Very much —
Eats the half
That holds
The soft vanilla
Moon.
