When I worked in the Computer Lab many moons ago, I used to send home a summer menu of ideas for the students at Mullen-Hall.
As I remembered it tonight, I went digging in my computer to see what was still useful “all” these years later… I’ve posted the “flyer” on the other side of this newsletter for you to check out…
Every summer since having kids, we have sat down as a family and written a list of things to do during the summer. The list includes everything from painting the deck to drawing on the driveway. As we make our way through the summer, we check items off the list. My kids get a big kick out of the lists we have saved over the years.
Though my kids are growing like the weeds in my garden, the lists we make still make me smile, and we all look forward to the days of less structure. This summer includes weeding the garden (yuck), painting a whole lot more than the deck, exploring the Harvard Campus, reading summer assignments, zip-lining, harvesting eggplant and designing a piece of furniture for my new classroom.
Enjoy every day with your children this summer. Don’t let them say for one minute that they are bored. Pull out their LIST!
Chances are, my family will still dig out the chalk and draw on the driveway.
For Field Day, bring a water bottle!
For the Field Trip, bring a lunch and wear sunscreen if needed.

Oh Miss Casey,
Not only did I love it – I loved it even more because I noticed that you even wrote a Rough Copy in your Writing Journal before you wrote the final copy! It made me smile, and weepy – I’m going to miss you, too – but I will look forward to seeing you as you walk to 4th grade every day.
I’m so lucky that you ended up in my class when you came to M-H.
Love,
Mrs. Brooks
