Charting A Course For Summer

I’m looking at my calendar for this summer and realizing already it is going to fly by.  Besides all the family fun we have planned, I have a bunch of teaching-related activities lined up as well.

In June, I’ll be working with the amazing team at EdTechTeacher for two days during a week full of professional development training for teachers in Shrewsbury, MA.  We’ll share ways to integrate technology into the elementary classroom.

July is a big month. I’ll be doing a presentation on creativity in the classroom for teacher teams at the Integrating Creativity into Teaching & Learning Program, which is hosted by MassCUE, MASCD and the Reynolds Center TLC.   Mrs. Noonan and I will be attending the ASCD Leaders to Leaders (L2L) Conference in Herndon, VA where we’ll be able to meet with education leaders from all over the country. I’ll also be working again with the folks at EdTechTeacher; presenting a three-day workshop at Harvard on utilizing technology in the elementary classroom.  Their summer programming is wonderful, and I’m proud to work with them!

I’ll wrap up with another session at Harvard in August, and then will focus on my own classroom.  I will start the school year with stronger skills and strategies in our two new programs for next year: Empowering Writers and Math In Focus.  I can’t wait!
It’s shaping up to be an exciting summer, and I hope yours is filled with learning as well!!

What’s to come:

🙂 If you are able to drive for the upcoming field trip (JUNE 8!!!!!), please let me know.  We are closer to having enough drivers – one or two more should do the trick! Yaay!!

🙂 Our Blogoversary is in 6 days, stop by and leave a comment – let us know what YOU are doing this summer!

🙂 The students wanted me to post the items that we keep running out of — pencils, tissues, pens, snacks and white-board markers.  It must be June – it happens every year! J

Stand Tall, Mrs. Brooks
