Haiti ShelterBox Book Sale

The Family Pod has been working hard to organize a fundraiser to benefit the people of Haiti. We are collecting gently used books to sell here at school. The books, priced between 25 and 50 cents, will be on sale here from Tuesday to Thursday next week. Proceeds will go towards the purchase of a ShelterBox — check out the website to find out more! ShelterBoxUSA

Today, we had 100 kids sorting, separating, and stacking books of all genres. They worked together wonderfully as Caboodles, and as an entire team.

If you are available to volunteer anytime this coming week, let us know – we could use you!!

Check out the pictures!!

    Dear Mrs. Brooks’ class,
Thank you to you, your teacher and your Caboodles (and their teachers!) for all of the hard work. What a wonderful thing you have done! What amazing PeaceBuilders you are! Our class can’t wait to come to the sale! Sincerely, Ms. Sawyer 🙂

HI!!!! I can’t wait to see what a real shelter box looks like on the inside! Do you think that we can make enough money for two shelter boxes? I hope we can. I also can’t wait for the book sale to happen! It ust sounds like so much fun!

Me, too, Ruby! Have you been to their website to see all the neat stuff they put in there? I guess the contents change, depending on where they are going – but I think it’s an amazing way to help out!

      See you tomorrow!
      Love,
      Mrs. Brooks

Hi mrs. brooks! No,I haven’t been to their website. What’s it called? What are we going to do at the book sale? Is it that just our class is going to buy books tomorrow or are we helping with the book sale? If it is can we bring money for afterwards?

          Hi Ruby!

Tomorrow, we are going “shopping” at the book sale at 11:00. I’m not sure if kids will be working at the Book Sale or not – I have to check with the other teachers. There’s a chance that some of you might go out to neaten up books, add more books to the tables, etc… There will be grown-up volunteers there to help with the money, too.

So bring your money — I have mine all ready to spend 🙂

          See you tomorrow,
          Love,
          Mrs. Brooks

            Hi Ruby!
I’m so glad you were able to get so many books. I am very excited that I found Owl Moon – I think it’s a great story for teaching writing… I’m trying to remember what else I bought 🙂 There were many to choose from!

Hope you enjoyed this “snow” day!

            Love,

      Hi Isabelle,

You’re not going to believe this, but we made enough money to buy TWO ShelterBoxes!! We raised over $2,000 – I don’t know the exact amount, yet… I’ll post it on the blog when I get the Actual Number.

      Hope you’re feeling better!
      Love,
      Mrs. Brooks

          Hi Isabelle,
          It certainly is!!!

If you finish your Heart Map, can you have mom or dad take a picture of it, and send it to me? I’m trying to make a collage of everyone’s maps, and I’d like to have yours included…

          Thanks & love,
          Mrs. Brooks
