Your children have been working SO. HARD. I have to say that 2013 marks the year where I’ve been most impressed with the level of memorization when it comes to Wax Museum speeches.
We have 15 students who are all bound and determined to memorize their speeches. For those who have already done so, I’ve offered up a challenge of sorts.
I’ve told my 3rd graders to take the time to “become” the character they have researched. A memorized speech allows them to think about those small nuances which raise the bar from reciting, to performance… Have them consider tone of voice, rate of speech, hand positions and facial expressions as they recite their speeches.
When you all arrive on Wednesday, we are asking you to remember the following:
* Arrive at 6:15
* Your child heads into the museum to prepare.
* You and the remaining museum-goers wait outside patiently.
* We will give you an inspiring speech before you enter, detailing the rules and many suggestions for making the evening one to remember. The rules will involve volume levels, and making sure you wander around listening to MANY students as they demonstrate their amazing efforts!

We are certainly in the Home Stretch. We’ve had lots of students borrow snacks from the Snack Cabinet, and have not replenished the inventory. Take a moment to ask your student if he or she has borrowed a snack in the past few weeks.
Every time my mom (Miss Sally) volunteers, she asks what we need. Seems the list is pretty long! Ticonderoga pencils, pencil-tip erasers, and glue sticks are extinct at this point, and we’re trying to keep up with demand. Thank you for your support!!
