“… many a frightening creek, though your arms may get sore and your sneakers may leak.” ~Dr. Seuss
My daughter Kendyl graduated from Upper Cape Tech last weekend, and is headed off to college to become an elementary teacher. My first class of @ThirdGraders just celebrated their high school graduations. Next week I will send my first class of @FourthGraders off to Middle School. Next year, I will be leaving the classroom for a new teaching adventure myself.
Life is full of changes and we decide how we will respond to them along the way. Though it is easy to worry about sore arms and leaky sneakers, Dr. Seuss reminds us, “On and on you will hike. And I know you’ll hike far and face up to your problems whatever they are.” Our students are determined workers blessed with the ability to reflect on their journey.
They are discovering their strengths and developing their emerging skills as learners. And will they succeed? Yes! They will, indeed! (98 and 1/4 percent guaranteed.) I am so excited to see what mountains they will move as they get older.
I promise I’ll be watching.
In the meantime – check out our photos from Friday’s field trip to Woods Hole. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful school district. Thank you to my fabulous chaperones, and to Mother Nature!
