At Mullen-Hall, all classes have been focusing on National Citizenship and Constitution Day. We are talking about how the Constitution came to be, as well as its importance. We are beginning to see how we each fit into the “Big Picture” as an individual citizen.
Together with Mrs. Langmead, we will be singing the Schoolhouse Rock! version of the Preamble to the Constitution. We are mindful of our own classroom “constitution” – our Target Behaviors, and we will work towards them every day.
Fred the Moose was introduced in our classroom Friday. He will soon be joined by several other furry friends. Each new animal will share an important message with our class.
Be sure to ask your third grader all about them as they arrive. Every student is anxious to find out who the new Build A Bear addition will be this year! Stay tuned!
What’s to come…
🙂 Thank you for all the generous contributions you have made to our classroom. Each item will be put to good use!!
🙂 This will be the first of many reminders for your child to bring a water bottle to school each day. We don’t allow juices or sports drinks at the desks to protect the work that we do, but water is encouraged!
🙂 Snack time is open in Room 204, as your child might have explained. Students are never allowed to share snacks, and are allowed to eat at whatever time they like. If a student forgets a snack altogether, they may “borrow” one from my snack cabinet, but will then receive a Snack Ticket, reminding them to replace it with a prepackaged snack for our inventory.
🙂 As always, if you have questions, please let me know.
Laugh out loud,
Mrs. Brooks

Every week, we watch a new Schoolhouse Rock! video. To start the year off on the right foot – we started with Three is a Magic Number (because, as a third grade teacher? I think it is!!). Check out the video here:

Mrs.Brooks!!! have u seen the eagle came in a while?? I don’t think they live there any more because the nest looks the same. Like the nest looks the same as last year and it’s been like 1 million weeks:) Sorry that I didn’t write it in the other letter but I looked at it after wrote it.
Hi Case!
I am using Schoolhouse Rock! already – I started with “Three is a Magic Number” because you know I think it is… that is a video you guys never got to see because we started the whole video thing later in the year.
I think at this point, all the cute little eagle babies have flown the coop, and the eagle pair will start re-fluffing the nest in the winter for a new crop of eggs come spring. It’ll be nice to see what happens this year!
I love my DREAM blocks and am proud to put them outside my room where you and I can both see them each day. Thank you, my friend!
Love,
Mrs. Brooks

You are like the best Schoolhouse Rock! commercial ever, Casey! It is really cool that you remember the words to all of those songs – think of how SMART you are!!!!
xxoo!! Nite nite!
Mrs.Brooks what was the yellow walk way that you had on the floor to your room?
Hi Casey,
The walkway was made by Mrs. Noonan to surprise me yesterday morning. I found out that I won a pretty big award, and she thought it would be a nice thing to do. The name of the award is called a Pathfinder – so that’s why there was a path! You can read about the award here: http://masscue.org/pathfinder/index.html but I won’t be receiving it until I present at Gillette Stadium in October. Thank you for asking!
Love, Mrs. Brooks
